Principal forum enters Manchester

The 11th Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals, organized by the Jiangsu Education Department, was held in Manchester, UK, from Oct 13 to 22.

The forum, with a theme of "Sister School in Cooperation", invited 12 principals from Jiangsu province, China and the UK to probe into their respective basic education systems.

At the forum's opening ceremony on Oct 14, Su Chunhai, director-general of the Education Department of Jiangsu Province, expressed his hope that the forum would serve as a platform promoting mutual understanding and friendly cooperation in basic education.

From Oct 14 to 19, the Jiangsu principal delegation visited various primary and middle schools in Manchester and had deep conversations with local principals about aspects of education systems, teacher training, teaching supervision, academic attitude and campus innovation.

From Oct 20 to 22, the principal delegation attended a forum co-organized by the Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE) and the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust of the United Kingdom (SSATUK) in London. Officials from SSATUK delivered speeches on the UK education system and the impact globalization has on schools.

Principals from both countries made great progress in education cooperation during the visit, and achieved their preliminary intention of establishing sister-school relations.
