Ontario-Jiangsu Alliance
Jiangsu and the Canadian province of Ontario have enjoyed a friendly relationship since 1985. The governments of the two provinces have succeeded in enhancing cooperation in education for 30 years.
In the field of basic education, Jiangsu founded SuOn College in Ontario in 2007, which has trained more than 7,000 primary and middle school teachers and officials. There have also been 58 projects carried out between the two provinces in higher education. Twenty-eight of them are concerned with cooperation between 19 universities in Jiangsu and 15 in Ontario.
In addition, the provinces have developed a student exchange program – OJS, which involves 12 universities from each province. So far, nearly 500 students have participated in the program and the program has obtained support and recognition from governments and universities on both sides.
In order to deepen the association between their universities, Jiangsu and Ontario in 2015 launched a new program – the Jiangsu-Ontario University Cooperation Alliance. The universities will take advantage of this alliance to work together in expanded fields such as joint education delivery, students and teachers exchange, credit accumulation and transfer, academic research and discipline construction.
