Suzhou Experimental Primary School was founded in 1905. It is one of the earliest model experimental primary schools which used the modern education system and teaching methods in modern China. On September 1, 2010, the school moved to the new location, which covers an area of 80 acres. The school built with the modern education facilities and is over 64000 square meters, and the total investment for the construction is about 250 million. Besides, the school has set up a students' qualification educational base in Zhenhu Town in Suzhou high-tech zone, which covers a land of over 200 acres. There are ten classes in each grade in the school and six classes in each grade in kindergarten. Now, there are 53 classes in the primary school and 18 classes in kindergarten, about 2,800 students in total.

Since the establishment of the school, the school has defined its fundamental mission of 'cultivating students foremost', and all the administrative organizations, academic designs, education methods, experimental researches, and all other educational facilities shall serve the students for moulding characters, inspiring intelligence, and satisfying. In the 1920s of the last century, the U.S. educationists, Mr. Dewey and Mr. Monroe, visited the school twice, and complimented that the school was as good as the first-class primary schools in the U.S. and the Europe. From the 50s to 80s of the last century, the school becomes a provincial experimental base for primary education, by adhering to the tradition of focusing on experiments and demonstration, which had a significant impact in the province and the country. Since the 90s of the last century, with the aim of helping students to develop harmoniously, the school has conducted the principle that "small school studies great education”, “small school deduces great education” and has gained “first excellence in five aspects” by succeeding the traditions and creating new approaches. In the December of 2003, Suzhou Experimental Primary School Group has official established. And now the Group has expanded to eleven programs and become an educational brand of integrated primary school (the headquarter of Suzhou Experimental Primary School, the kindergarten attached to Suzhou Experimental Primary School, the east campus of Suzhou Experimental Primary School, Xiangcheng Experimental Primary School, Kindergarten in the New town of Canglang District, Wujiang Pearl School, Wujiang Pearl Kindergarten, the Students' Qualification Education Base for Suzhou primary schools and middle schools, Mingcheng Education Management Corporation, Skybridge International Education Corporation, and Xinsu International Experimental School).

With over 100 years of educational experience, the concept of “Students' Development Oriented”, the persistent educational experimental researches, and the mission of “seeking the truth, refinement and innovation”, the school has formed a school motto of “honesty, kindheartedness, wisdom, and healthy”, a school spirit of 'unity, cooperation, truth and creativity', a study style of 'hardworking, persistent, flexible and cooperated’, and a teaching style of 'utility, concise, flexible, and innovative’. Over the one hundred years, the school has many nationally famous teachers, such as Yu Ziyi, Ji Tongyao, Huang Huanqing, and Zhuang Xinzhen; and has over 20000 highly qualified graduates. A lot of celebrities graduated from our school, such as Ieoh Ming Pei (the world-famous architect or), and Wu Dakun (famous Chinese economist). In recent years, more than ten scientific research works have been published, such as the Strategic Research about the Quality-oriented Education Courses in Primary School, and the Conduction and Application of the Quality Management System in Primary School. Recently, the school has respectively been credited as an Advanced Unit for the provincial educational science research, an Advanced Unit of moral education and A Civilized Unit. The school also has been ratified as an experiment school of the UNESCO Club and the educational experiment and research center of the State Educational Science Research Institute, and the national cultivation base for the outstanding primary school headmasters. The distinctive academic achievements won us a broad recognition in the society, and our school has been listed in one of the famous school of our country.
