Nanjing Foreign Language School Xianlin Campus (hereinafter referred to as NFLS Xianlin Campus) was set up in 2002 as a new private boarding school by the Nanjing Government to extend high quality education resources.  Under the control of the majority of shares held by the well-known Nanjing Foreign Language School, shares were also jointly held by other economic enterprises. The administrative responsibilities rest with the Principal under a Board of Governors.  

This is not only a strategically important decision of the Nanjing Municipal Government, but also an innovation of the basic educational system in Nanjing.  The school is located in Nanjing Xianlin University Town, covering 410 mu, with school buildings occupying an area of 158,000 sq meters.  

The school has a primary school section, a high school section (junior and senior school) and an International High School comprising 140 classes, over 5,200 students and 890 teachers and ancillary staff members, including a full-time teaching staff of 475 and 46 foreign teachers.
