The Nanjing University of Arts held an exhibition for 361 outstanding entries of the 2015 Cross-straits Creative Chinese Characters Design Competition on Jan 6.
The exhibition included all 100 winning works from different categories, showing the mainland and Taiwan young generation's innovative understanding of Chinese language and culture.
Experts in Chinese language and education studies and officials of cross-Straits affairs from both sides attended the opening ceremony.
Zhu Weiguo, chairman of the Jiangsu Language Application Society, expressed his hope that the event can serve as a new platform for cross-Straits cultural and educational exchange and pave the way for further cooperation between Jiangsu and Taiwan.
The competition, held by the mainland's Chinese Language Modernization Society, called for creative character designs among college students from the mainland and Taiwan. Since it began in September 2015, it has received more than 11,000 submissions featuring fonts, posters, calligraphy and seal engraving designs.
