Jiangsu and the Netherlands agreed to enhance cooperation in vocational education.

The deal was signed during the meeting between Mr. Shen Jian, chief of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and visitors from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands on May 18.

Mr. Shen welcomed the Dutch delegation, headed by Mr. Hans Schutte, director-general in charge of higher and vocational education of the Netherlands. Mr. Shen briefed them about the cooperation and exchange between two sides and hoped to set up a working mechanism for cooperation in vocational education.

He also suggested both sides enhance cooperation in training technical personnel, promote training programs for Jiangsu teachers to study and do research at Dutch universities, and encourage more Dutch students to attend exchange and academic programs in Jiangsu.

Mr. Schutte agreed with Mr. Shen’s suggestions and introduced the vocational education in the Netherlands and the country’s cooperation with China. He also hoped that the cooperation in vocational education can pave the way for the establishment of an alliance of Chinese and Dutch application-oriented universities in the future.
