Ten universities from Jiangsu, along with 26 other Chinese universities, took part in the annual conference and expo of the National Association for Foreign Students Affairs (NAFSA) held in the US city of Denver from May 29 to June 3.
It was the first time that the Jiangsu universities organized a delegation to join the event, where they showcased their provincial educational advantages, leading disciplines and exchange programs to promote the brand image of “Study in Jiangsu”.
As a province boasting many scholarly institutions, Jiangsu has always been a leader in international educational exchange and cooperation, said Shen Xuesong, vice secretary-general of the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange, who hoped that Jiangsu universities could take advantage of NAFSA as a platform to further enhance cooperation with overseas institutions and promote cultural and educational exchange.
The Jiangsu delegation included prestigious universities such as Southeast University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Hohai University, Soochow University, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Duke Kunshan University. The delegation sealed a string of deals with foreign counterparts in students exchange, faculty training and academic cooperation.
The NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo is a large world event for international educators and has been held for 68 years. With the theme of “Building capacity for global learning”, this year’s event attracted more than 10,000 participants from international educational organizations, universities and agencies. The 2017 conference and expo will be held in Los Angeles on May 28 – June 2.
