Foreign educational experts offer a helping hand for teacher training

A conference to welcome foreign teachers participating in the 2016 Jiangsu Teachers' Training Project was held in Nanjing, the provincial capital of Jiangsu province on July 10.

A total of 87 foreign teachers from the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, officials from city education authorities and members of training centers took part in the event.

The directors of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education extended their warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to all the foreign teachers coming from afar.

Started in 2004, the program is organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and operated by Jiangsu Education Services of International Exchanges. Its aim is to improve the academic ability of teachers in kindergartens, elementary and secondary schools in the province.

The training program covers a wide number disciplines ranging from English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and the arts to physical education.

During the two-week program, the foreign teachers are expected to conduct training in 35 centers across the province. Nearly 3,000 teachers in Jiangsu will benefit.

By the end of 2015, more than 1,200 foreign teachers had joined the program, providing training for 350,000 fellow teachers throughout the province.
