As a province boasting economic strength and rich educational resources, Jiangsu has been offering help for the educational development in the Tibet autonomous region.
A government delegation headed by Shi Heping, deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, recently paid a visit to a Jiangsu-supported middle school in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa.
The Lhasa Jiangsu Experimental Middle School opened in Aug 2014 and has received a total investment of 263 million yuan ($39.2 million) from the Jiangsu provincial government. It currently has 53 teachers and officials from Jiangsu to help with teaching and school management.
After learning about the Jiangsu teachers’ work and life at the school, Shi praised their selfless contribution to the regional educational development. He also encouraged them to continue in their devotion to the educational and cultural exchange between Jiangsu and Tibet.
Covering an area of 13.8 hectares, the school combines both junior and senior middle school education. It now has more than 2,000 students as well as 262 teaching and administrative staff. Featuring Chinese-Tibetan bilingual teaching, the school is striving to develop into an outstanding educational model in Lhasa.
