Suzhou Centennial College, a Sino-Canadian higher education vocational college, officially opened for students in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) on Oct 17.

Suzhou Centennial College strives to cultivate the professional skills and linguistic proficiency of talented students with a view to developing attractive potential employees for international companies.

The Suzhou-based college will offer 30 majors and aims to have diverse student body with 3,600 native Chinese students and 1,000 international students.

One special feature of Suzhou Centennial College is the dual degree program by which graduates hold diplomas from both Suzhou Centennial College and Centennial College in Canada. This not only enables the prospect of further study in Canada but will also help graduates to stand out to employers and get ahead in the workplace.

Among those in attendance at the opening ceremony were Wang Chengbin, deputy director-general of Jiangsu Provincial Education Department, and Mr. Weldon Carl Epp, Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai. Both stressed the importance of Suzhou Centennial College and stated it was a positive progression for educational cooperation between China and Canada.

Founded in 1966, Canada’s Centennial College is a reputable vocational institution based in downtown Toronto. Its Suzhou campus becomes the only Sino-foreign vocational institution officially approved by the Chinese government.
