The Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University (XJTLU), a Chinese-British university based in Suzhou, has had its major of applied chemistry certified by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
It makes XJTLU the first international university in China to be certified by the RSC, a UK-based professional association with the goal of advancing the chemical sciences. It is one of the most important institutes for chemistry research in the world.
Chemistry graduates from XJTLU will meet the requirements of the academic qualification and measure up to the international standard as chemists.
The degree certification serves the purpose of sharing best practices and assuring the promising future of students, according to Toby Underwood, head of Certification Services Office.
The investigation delegation organized by RSC spoke highly of the school of chemistry at XJTLU for its world-class teaching methodology and equipment.
“For students who desire to study applied chemistry, the certification represents the best chemistry education worldwide and enables students to stand out in the employment market,” said Rudi Marquez, head of the school of chemistry.
Founded in 2006 as a partnership between the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University, XJTLU is the first Sino-British joint venture between research-led universities, exploring new educational models for China.
