Nanjing XiaoZhuang University (NXZU) has made remarkable progress in international education and spreading Chinese education principles worldwide, according to a report from China Education Daily on Mar 6.
Established in 1927, NXZU still upholds the educational principles of “combining teaching, learning and working” first proposed by Tao Xingzhi, founder of the university.
The university, which excels at Chinese language training for overseas students, set up a Chinese language department abroad at Yinduonusha University in Indonesia in 2014.
“After studying the Chinese language for a year in Indonesia, I am now continuing my studies at Nanjing XiaoZhuang University. I really appreciate the devotion of my Chinese teachers. I can now communicate in Chinese and have also learned some idioms and proverbs.” said Wu Yulian, an Indonesian student at NXZU’s Chinese language department.
NXZU’s teaching staff possesses profound professional knowledge and experience in teaching Chinese as a second language, and have expanded their enrollment of overseas students over the years, according to Wang Jingoing, director of International Communication of NXZU.
Boasting eight Sino-foreign cooperative majors and dozens of exchange programs, NXZU has also proactively introduced high quality educational resources in the Sino-foreign programs, affirmed Yang Zhongxue, director of the Office of Teaching Affairs at NXZU.
Wang Hongdan, a senior at NXZU, won fifth place in the University of Dayton’s Global Entrepreneurship Competition in 2016, earning her admission to the University of Dayton. “I could not have made it if NXZU had not provided me with such a precious opportunity,” she said.
NXZU students Fan Yaxin and Yang Bilu won the Award of Elegance in the same competition in 2017, gaining the full scholarship to study for an MBA at the University of Dayton.
Teachers from NXZU take pride in devoting themselves to education both at home and abroad.
“I want to influence students with my words and deeds so that they can understand and love traditional Chinese culture while learning the language.” said Zhang Zumei, a professor at NXZU.
