Kazakh student wins motherland recognition

Kulan Sagadi, a Kazakh student studying at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST), won nation-wide recognition from her home country as she performed outstandingly in China in recent years.

A delegation of diplomats, officials, and reporters from Kazakhstan interviewed her on April 25.

As a winner of the Chinese Government Scholarship, Sagadi started her connection with NUST in 2014. The one-year Chinese language program at the School of International Education equipped her with tools for further education in computer applications starting in 2015.

Apart from academic achievements, Sagadi also actively immersed herself in various cultural activities during her spare time.

Her fluency in Chinese language won her second prize at the 2016 “Shared Joy in Jiangsu” Chinese Speaking Contest for Foreigners, a competition that attracts thousands of foreigners living in the province to share their stories about life in China every year.
