East China’s Jiangsu province is much more than a top choice for overseas students to realize their academic dreams.

It is also attracting more and more foreign youngsters to spend their summer holidays there, doing things such as voluntary teaching in rural areas, participating in internships, and integrating more deeply into Chinese society.

This trend is attributed to the province’s involvement in international cooperation in recent years, when the number of overseas students studying in Jiangsu grew at a steady 10 percent annually.

In 2016, 87 universities and colleges in the province admitted 32,600 foreign students, the third-highest number in China.
