School-enterprise cooperation produces win-win results in Jiangsu

In addition to dealing with the company’s financial affairs, Narulita also works as an assistant to Delong’s general manager in Indonesia, accompanying him on visits to government offices and businesses in China and Indonesia. 

Narulita and her fellow Nanjing alumni are helping Delong overcome the cultural barriers the company encountered after starting operations in Indonesia, according to Zhou. 

“We suffered the problems of ‘non-acclimatization’ that every company goes through during the initial days: High costs to bring in large numbers of workers from China, low efficiency and lack of skills among local employees, and poor communication between Chinese and Indonesian staff members,” Zhou explained. 

“But that’s in the past, now, we’re on the right path in Indonesia as we have finally realized that the best way to adapt to a foreign country is to adapt to its local labor market,” he continued. 

“That’s why we are sparing no efforts to support the training program, as hundreds of qualified graduates like Narulita will have the opportunity to work back home and show their skills.” 

Delong has offered meticulous support to every aspect of the program, such as developing joint curriculums, providing six-month internships and training up qualified teachers. 

The company also provides regular reports on how the students’ internships and full-time jobs are going in Indonesia, and works together with the school to improve the program based on this feedback. 

What’s more, the students can all get a scholarship of 2,000 yuan ($303) from the company for further studies and living.
