For example, the once most popular diagnosis for coronary heart disease, angiography, will be replaced by metabolic profiling, as the latter method proved to be better in terms of cost efficiency, noninvasiveness, while having a high accuracy rate of over 90 percent.
Based on the established profiles or series of symptoms, doctors can check the numbers that appear on the patients’ blood testing, to see if they fit a profile for certain illnesses.
Other medical problems, such as malignant tumor, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases, can also be diagnosed with the simple blood test and a waiting duration of merely 20 minutes.
“I hope in the future, with continuous improvement, the duration of our diagnosis can happen within one minute; and with delving into the pathologies of various metabolic disorders, we can evaluate how trends in profiles increase risk for developing illnesses and indicate the need to closely watch people that fit certain profiles,” said Qi Lianwen, chief director of the center.
Local residents can also enjoy free metabolic profiling by calling 025-8618-5559.
