Ge Daokai, director-general of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, agreed with president Du’s ideas. He exemplified Jiangsu, a province which has been dedicated to developing proper education for every student, that engineering education in Jiangsu is to reach fruitful results in the near future.

“We will establish high-level engineering-tailored colleges, build up characteristic majors, promote interdisciplinary cooperation, and make Jiangsu colleges top choices for engineering enthusiasts,” Ge said.

Wu Yan, an official from the Ministry of Education, was excited to see the developments taking place.

“China has joined the group of ‘Washington Accord’ this June, ascending into the 18th member of the international organization. It also marks that the country’s education for professional engineering academic degrees is more globally recognized,” Wu said.

“At the turning point of a global scientific and technological revolution and our country’s determination to make ‘Made in China 2025’ a reality, we are confident to grasp the opportunities and tackle the challenges,” he said.
