Jiangsu and Ontario, the Chinese and Canadian provinces with traditional strength in education, renewed their cooperation on college student exchanges on Nov 27.
Nanjing, the provincial capital of Jiangsu, witnessed the signing of the agreement.
The current agreement was signed in 2008 and put into practice a year later. Twenty-three colleges from the two provinces provide 50 undergraduates and graduates every year with one-year exchange studies. Over the past decade, the program has benefited 694 students.
Looking back on the fruitful results the two provinces have achieved, such as their cooperation covering more scientific and technological aspects, Jiangsu and Ontario decided to expand the scale of the exchange and invite more students to partake in research and Chinese language programs during their summer holidays.
Closer intercollegiate relations, such as establishing college alliances and jointly cultivating high-end professionals, were also encouraged and included in the agreement.
