A law school teaching the laws and regulations of Portuguese-speaking countries was recently unveiled at Changzhou University, Jiangsu province.

It was the first of its kind in Chinese mainland and has won solid support from both China and the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

The City University of Macao will also play a vital role in the smooth running of the school.

As a new step forward in response to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the school aims to boost China and CPLP’s frequent exchanges in legal culture and cultivate professionals who are proficient in laws of China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Cheng Chun, Party secretary of Changzhou University, said it was high time the school was established.

“We will offer targeted education to our students and strive to build our school into a ‘think tank’ supporting the economic development of both China and Portuguese-speaking countries,” Cheng said.
