Namibian President Hage Geingob led a delegation of First Lady Monica Geingob and some 30 industrial and commercial insiders to Nanjing Polytechnic Institute (NPI) on April 1. 

Jiangsu government officials, school leaders, teachers, and student representatives from NPI welcomed the guests. 

The delegation was briefed on the school’s advantages in carrying out vocational and technical education over the past 60 years, and was also taken on a nickel tour around NPI’s school library and various training centers on automobile, numerical control equipment, intelligent laser devices, and coal-to-methanol apparatus. 

The president shared his appreciation towards NPI’s endeavors to improve its talent training mode and enhance the students’ practical abilities; he also looked forward to Namibia and Jiangsu establishing closer ties in vocational education fields like engineering application. 

Ye Lisheng, Party secretary of NPI, said he hoped the president’s visit will promote the school and Namibia to work together in more areas, such as technical personnel training, youth career training, wind power generation, sea water desalination, and scientific research and development. 

The delegation was then gifted an artifact created by NPI students, which integrates the school’s 60 anniversary with Namibia elements. 

The president is on a state visit to China from March 28 to April 3.
