Some 109 students from 44 countries across the globe explored Jiangyin, a humble corner in southern Jiangsu province Nov 3 and 4, seeing the great changes that have taken place since China's process of reform and opening-up started 40 years ago.
The students were sponsored by Chinese government scholarships to further their education at the Jiangsu-based Nanjing University of the Arts and at Southeast University.
Heilan Group, the first local private enterprise to earn over 100 billion yuan ($14.4 billion) in 2017, was the students' first stop. The story of how Heilan rose from an unknown textile mill to domestic clothing giant was inspiring, while the intelligent and highly regulated sorting and storage system which enables a reserve capacity of over 40 million commodities reflects the vigor and vitality of China's private sector.
On their second day, the students visited Huaxi village, which is widely known as the "number one village under the sky". The prosperity of the village reflects the wisdom and diligence of local residents working out together a distinctive business mode 40 years ago, as well as the solid support the local government has offered through a variety of preferential policies.
The students marveled at the encouraging changes in Huaxi and captured the beauty and thriving life through their pens and cameras.
