The internet has generated a huge demand for workers while the need for financial insiders keeps shrinking, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education announced on Oct 31 at a press conference concerning the employment realities of local college graduates of the class of 2019. 

The number of college graduates saw a slight increase of roughly 6,000 to 562,000 this year, 90.6 percent of which have already secured a job after graduation. 

Various preferential policies have made Jiangsu increasingly attractive to youngsters, as nearly 312,000 local students have decided to find work in the eastern Chinese province. 

The generous 969,000 positions offered by some 8,900 local companies in the past two months has also helped Jiangsu maintain its advantage over a talent net inflow. 

Internet-related businesses have flourished, boosting the local job market with a high demand for workers, and offering 95,400 jobs over the last two months, a year-on-year surge of 4.22 percent. Information transmission, software, and information technology services are among the top three most popular fields. 

"We have benefited from China's emphasis on innovation," said Xu Zimin, an official at the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. 

Traditional industries such as transport, storage, and post have also ridden the internet wave, seeing a year-on-year increase of 4 percent in demand for workers. 

However, the real estate and financial sectors remain sluggish, with the number of jobs shrinking by 1.7 and 2.3 percent, respectively.
