Nanjing city, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, recently announced that they will set up a science and technology high school, the first of its kind in the province. 

The school will be jointly-run by the Nanjing municipal education bureau, Qinhuai district government, and the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal School. 

Admissions will start from next September, and Ge Jun, principal of the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal School, will be the new school head. 

The school will be designed according to the idea of bringing out the vigor and vitality of modern education and highlighting science and technology. A whole set of improvement will be made from faculty training and course arrangement to campus culture refinement. 

Science and technology high schools are emerging across the globe so as to meet the increasing need of diversified, individualized and characteristic education. 

Nanjing, and even Jiangsu province, has a long way to go before realizing such an educational pattern, particularly with emphasis on teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. 

High schools delving into science and technology shall take the lead and be committed to cultivating professionals with sense of duty and innovativeness, and combine ability with their character.
