Jiangsu and Taiwan shared visions on basic education as a forum aiming to boost the cooperation between the two sides and exchanges between the teenagers from the two regions was held in Taipei on Dec 8.

Su Chunhai, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, took part in the forum, along with roughly 100 primary and secondary school principals and educators from across the Straits.

Su said Jiangsu always attaches importance to its basic education advancing towards a high-quality and balanced direction. It will continue to carry out reform at more down-to-earth levels and strive for creating an immersive learning climate across the province.

Upholding the idea of seeking for more common grounds, representatives from the two sides then conducted various keynote speeches, expert reports, group discussions and field trips.

A delegation of Jiangsu primary and secondary school principals visited several local schools on Dec 6 and 7, during which 10 schools from across the Straits were tied up as sister schools.

The forum, initiated in 2015, has seen 74 Jiangsu schools establishing close ties with 60 Taiwan counterparts. The schools started from a one-on-one mode, then grew to inter-regional and interscholastic patterns, to realize the most efficient and practical results between each other.
