The ancient water town of Mudu in Jiangsu province July 11 saw students from some 20 universities on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao start a program to co-produce 10 short films.
"The enchanting water town is refreshing and also great for filming," said a student from Macao.
The students shot footage in Mudu for the next few days, capturing the distinctive landscapes of the centuries-old water town and learning about the integration of culture and history.
"For these students, a short film is a novel method of artistic expression," said Kong Jianfeng, director of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao affairs at Nanjing University. "The students can interpret Chinese stories with their global perspectives, and also sharpen their professional skills."
A student from Hong Kong also said that she regarded the program as a good chance to build close ties among students from the three sides, such as sharing film visions and learning from each other.
The film-making activity was part of an exchange program launched by the Ministry of Education every year to engage some 10,000 students and teachers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.
