The FIRST Robotics Competition was held at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, on July 28-30.
Ten teams from Australia, Brazil, Israel, Turkey and the United States joined XJTLU students to help with a robot named "Deep Space".
"FRC was the most fun I've ever experienced," said one excited participant after the event.
Organized by FIRST – For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology – which is a US-based non-profit institution, the event has been staged now 30 times, to date engaging roughly 4,000 teams from some 30 countries and regions.
In the FRC games, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone their teamwork skills and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors.
Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and experience to guide each team.
