A Bangladeshi student, going by Mo Hedi in Chinese, said after a recent field trip to rural Jurong, Jiangsu province, that the Chinese countryside is as beautiful as his hometown, but features more advanced, user-friendly equipment.
Joined by eight Bangladeshi students from the Jiangsu Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry, Mo and his classmates were given a rare look into rural life in China. In Qiubei village, where locals rely on grape planting as their main source of livelihood, the students learned how to pick grapes and gained hands-on farming experience. In Shengli village, they were in awe of the advanced clothing manufacturing machines and expressed a desire to replicate the Chinese experience in their homeland, which also plays an important role in the global apparel and textile manufacturing industry.
The students also interacted with local residents, visiting an elderly care center and teaching English to children, who in return taught their Bangladeshi teachers to recite Chinese classic poems.
The last day of the trip included a visit to the science center of the Chishan Lake National Wetland Park, where the students gained insights into the history of local wetlands and learned about efforts to protect them.
Jiang Mingming, the lead teacher, said the trip offered the Bangladeshis an opportunity to practice their skills and enriched their understanding of rural life in China.
