The snacks served at a sharing session for young business starters from Chinese mainland and Taiwan, part of the ongoing Cross-Straits Entrepreneurs Summit in Nanjing on Nov 4-5, won a thumbs-up from the attendees.

The mouth-watering delicacies were presented by Lin Chi-hsun, a Taiwan university graduate of design and business who flew from Taipei to Nanjing in 2017 and made up her mind to seek her first bucket of gold in the eastern Chinese city last year.

"Mainland residents enjoy a fast work pace and there are multiple opportunities," Lin said, "differences between the two peoples have inspired me to dig into local cultural characteristics and turn them into various innovative ideas."

Starting up her business for less than one year, Lin said the mainland is a fertile soil to nurture her interest in culture and tourism and turn her dream into pragmatic fruits.

Her studio was located at the Taiwan Youth Entrepreneurship College in Nanjing, the first of its kind in China which opened in July 2017 and has worked as a platform for business start-ups from across the Straits.

Covering a floor space of 2,000 square meters, the college was designed to meet the various academic and training demands of young entrepreneurs and has welcomed over 5,000 people from both sides of the Straits. It has also channeled 95 young men from Taiwan to work in the mainland and offered internships to over 300 Taiwan college students.

"The harder you work, the luckier you will become. Taiwan young men should stay focused and devoted to exploring the diversified market of the mainland," said Lin Mingtian, head of the Association of Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises in Nanjing.
