The 2019 Jianghai Elite Entrepreneurship Week as well as Central Innovation District Talents Development Conference opened in Nantong, Jiangsu province on Nov 12. 

Over 1,500 elite entrepreneurs, cutting-edge talents, experts and scholars, industrial leaders, investors and university students attended the event. 

Nantong's new talent policy launched last month, which showed the city's rising demand for some 3,000 innovative and entrepreneurial talents by the end of 2020, was mostly discussed at the event. 

Nine local teams, who have made significant breakthroughs in innovation and entrepreneurship, also gained financial awards ranging from 3 to 5 million yuan ($427,777 to $712,962). 

"Nantong is embracing an unprecedented opportunity, making the city a better place for young talents to turn their ideas into practical results," said Lu Zhipeng, Party secretary of Nantong. 

Statistics show that the number of innovative and entrepreneurial talents working in Nantong has ranked second in Jiangsu for four consecutive years. The number of Nantong-based high-tech enterprises also reached 1,300, with their integrated industrial output accounting for over 50 percent of the city's total.
