The first Zijin Award College Student Design Exhibition was held in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, from Nov 22-24.
Over 10,000 designs created by students from 100 domestic universities and colleges were included in the exhibition.
Some exhibits depicted subjects related to environmental protection and traditional Chinese culture, while others featured a variety of animals.
A lion design by Li Siming and her team from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts won the top prize for their blend of distinctive South China styles with cartoon and game features.
"Our design was made using modern methods but still incorporated elements of traditional culture," Liu said.
This year's exhibition, officially launched in June, focused on innovation and aimed to show the strength of Chinese universities in creative design, promote cultural exchange, improve design education, boost the integration of industry and education, incubate more high-quality projects, and cultivate more skilled designers.
The exhibition received support from the China Association of Higher Education and was co-organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and Jiangsu Provincial Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office.
An event inviting college students to explore cities along the Grand Canal and their intangible cultural heritages was held concurrently with the exhibition. The event was held mainly to promote Grand Canal-related products.
