A group of international students took time from their winter holiday on Jan 19, visiting an academy of classic learning in Suzhou and experiencing the charm of Chinese folk music.

An international student tries to play the Chinese chime, large-scale percussion instruments which are originated in the Western Zhou Dynasty and reached its heyday during the Warring States period. Chinese chimes are flat with sharp corners like two tiles pierced together, so the sound wanes faster and has accurate tonality, making it possible to organize the bells into groups and play them as a rhythm instrument.
