International student leaders at Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang, who chose to stay at school during the winter break, have been playing an active role in the school's prevention and control work against the novel coronavirus, jschina.com.cn reported Feb 3.
Mike is a fifth-year student majoring in clinical medicine. He is also president of the school's medical association for international students. Along with eight other foreign students, Mike set up a volunteer team and worked from Jan 25 to 30, visiting student dorms one by one, spreading awareness of epidemic prevention methods, and taking temperature tests twice a day for international students who have returned to school.
"We are medical students and have the responsibility to help other students get to know the current circumstances,” Mike said. “Why they shouldn’t go out, and how to protect themselves."
Ma Ping (Chinese name), an international student pursuing a master's in medicine, also published a letter on the school's official WeChat account Feb 1, informing students about the progress of the Chinese people's fight against the novel coronavirus and relieving the fears and doubts of overseas students.
"As a student leader, I know the school's prevention and control measures," Ma said. "I wanted to share my understanding with other international students and encourage them to have confidence in the school."
