Soochow University in southern Jiangsu has among the most international students in the province. The school responded immediately when the local government announced that it would intensify epidemic prevention and control measures. Nine students were quarantined in temporary observation rooms, and important medical information and consulting hotlines were translated into seven languages – English, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish – and shared with over 3,000 students from around 80 countries. The school also discouraged students from booking flights home, as they would likely be canceled.

Nafiso Ali Isse, a student from Somalia who has been studying in Wuhan for six years, was extremely anxious about the situation in the city, but her anxiety was alleviated by considerate care from her teachers and by receiving timely updates about the virus.

"I'm so happy to see patients being discharged one after another. I believe the current situation won't last long. When the cherry blossoms bloom, Wuhan will be beautiful again," Isse said.

International students are also doing their part to help China cope with the present crisis.
