Confucius Institutes and Classrooms are non-profit educational organizations set up in foreign countries with the aim of improving people's understanding of China, offering Chinese language courses, and facilitating international cooperation in education and culture.

Confucius Institutes/Classrooms have flexible teaching styles and try to adapt to the local environment with their language and culture classes in foreign primary schools, secondary schools, and communities.

Jiangsu province first began carrying out overseas Chinese language promotion programs in 2006. By December 2019, the province had established 25 Confucius Institutes and 37 Confucius Classrooms in 12 countries including the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Spain, Belarus, France, Germany, the Bahamas, Kenya, Austria, Venezuela, and Chile.
