As COVID-19 subsides across the country, students in East China's Jiangsu province finished their longest winter vacation yet and started returning to campuses.
The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education encouraged schools at all levels to open in an orderly manner.
Colleges and universities which have worked out specific plans and passed the province's epidemic prevention criteria should reopen and encourage students to return to school as soon as possible.
Kindergartens can be more flexible. Schools which satisfy epidemic prevention criteria are encouraged to reopen and parents can decide for themselves whether they want their children to return to school or not.
The department urged schools to teach students and teachers the basics of epidemic prevention and control and helped schools reinforce their health facilities and medical supplies.
Indoor spaces, such as libraries, gyms, laboratories, canteens and classrooms, should be thoroughly ventilated and disinfected, and health tips should be posted in frequented areas.
Students and teachers should report their health conditions every day, especially those who are absent due to illness.
