Program Overview
Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals is hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education (JPDE) and facilitated by the Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE), an official branch of JPDE since 2005. It receives financial support from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Finance.
By cooperating with the education network throughout the province, overseas educational departments and key foreign principals' organizations, the forum invites primary and secondary school principals form Jiangsu and overseas schools to participate in themed activities, which include school visits, keynote presentations, expert lectures, academic seminars and cultural visits.
The principals discuss in-depth on hot topics and significant issues with their peers. Themes are closely related to the reform and development of basic education. The forum aims at promoting cooperation between Jiangsu and overseas schools through students and teachers exchanges, scientific research and sister school partnerships. Since 2011, the forum has adopted the model of "even number years held in Jiangsu, odd numbered years held abroad".
On October 29, 2019, the 15th Jiangsu international Forum for School Principals was held in New York, the United States. Over 160 international attendees from countries such as China, the US, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands took part in the forum.
The key focus of the forum was "Promoting Educational Excellence in a STEM Enriched World". Through themed discussions, panel discussions and school visits, principals from primary and middle schools discussed thoroughly about the educational cooperation and communication between Chinese and foreign schools, which promoted student exchange, teacher exchange, scientific research on teaching and so on. During the forum, 10 pairs of Chinese and foreign primary and secondary schools established sister school partnerships.
Program Participation
Every year, JPDE releases the theme and scope of the forum, and local education bureaus can inform, recommend and organize school principals to attend the forum in accordance with the official documents issued by JPDE.
