An offline job fair for college graduates, particularly for those who failed the postgraduate entrance examinations, was held at the Nanjing Tech University on May 30. It was the first such fair to be held in Nanjing since the epidemic started in January.

Many employers and job-seeking college graduates participated in the fair. More than 100 companies from Nanjing's Jiangbei New District and Pukou district, as well as the cities of Changshu, Wuxi, Zhangjiagang, Taicang, Changzhou, and Nantong, took part in the fair. Renowned companies such as China Construction Science and Industry Corporation, Jiangsu Tripod Preclinical Research Laboratories Co, and Jiangsu Flag Chemical Industry Co also attended.

Zhang Tao, head of the university's student employment office, said many other companies have expressed an eagerness to attend, as they are all in urgent need of employees.

A student surnamed Yan, who majored in bioengineering, found more than 20 companies whose salary and career prospects were in line with his expectations.

"I failed the postgraduate entrance examination this year and I originally thought it was too late to secure a job. But the current situation is much better than I imagined," Yan said.

By that afternoon, employers had received more than 2,000 resumes and some had even signed employment agreements or reached employment intention agreements with graduates.

Wu Shenghong, vice president of Nanjing Tech University, said the school will continue to hold online and offline job fairs for graduates and aim to provide them with personalized employment opportunities.

Su Chunhai, an official of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, praised the job fair, saying it was a good way to maintain epidemic prevention and control measures while also responding to the needs of employers and graduates.
