The commencement ceremony for grade 12 students at Nanjing No 13 Middle School in East China's Jiangsu province was attended by staff and students at Massachusetts Mayflower Academy via livestream, local media reported June 16.

Officials, teachers and student representatives from the United States extended their best wishes to the Chinese graduates.

The president and CEO of Massachusetts Mayflower Academy, Carol Ribeiro, encouraged the students to try their best, embrace change and keep thinking when hitting the road toward their dreams.

The academy's dean, Amy Michalowski, said she was glad to see all graduates being admitted to the top 80 colleges and universities in the United States, saying these were the school's best ever results, and encouraging these students to press forward with indomitable will.

Graduate Ma Yichun said she had mixed feelings about graduation.

"Walking through the school gate and starting the first semester of grade 9 seems like it was just yesterday, and three years has flown by," Ma said. "I gradually became the girl I wanted to be and I will keep going."

Graduate Zhang Wenjing, who will be studying at the Warrington College of Business, University of Florida, in the near future, said she was prepared to embrace challenges.

"I hope that my classmates and I can realize clearly that going abroad is not a trip but a challenge," Zhang said. "We may encounter many challenges and difficulties in the next four years, and I hope we can overcome them and stretch ourselves."
