The second Zijin Award College Student Design Exhibition will be held in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, from Nov 12 to 15, local media reported on June 18.

It will continue to focus on innovation and aims to show the strength of Chinese universities in creative design, promote cultural exchange, improve design education, boost the integration of industry and education, incubate more high-quality projects, and cultivate more skilled designers.

This year's edition is expected to attract students from 150 domestic colleges and universities, 50 more than last year. The number of spectators is also expected to double from last year's 20,000 to 40,000.

"We bagged six prizes last year and our students learned a lot from their competitors. We will continue to bring more excellent works to the exhibition this year," said Chang Ling, a teacher from Jiangsu Open University.

The exhibition received support from the China Association of Higher Education and was co-organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and Jiangsu Provincial Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office.

Some exhibits using modern method while still integrating traditional cultural elements have stood out in last year's exhibition. For example, a lion design by Li Siming and her team from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts won the top prize for their blend of distinctive South China styles with cartoon and game features.
