International students at Nantong College of Science and Technology learned to make zongzi, a traditional Chinese rice dumpling wrapped in leaves, at the school canteen on June 18 to celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 25 this year.

The students are from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia and Laos.

"Seeing is much easier than doing," said a sophomore from Bangladesh, who also participated in the zongzi-making activity last year. "I failed the last time, but I made it this year. I'm very proud of myself."

The international education school of the college holds regular cultural activities for international students to observe traditional Chinese festivals, according to Peng Lu, deputy director of the school.

"The activities have proved popular among international students," said Peng. "They will help promote Chinese culture to the world as they bring these experiences back home."
