The Jiangdu district government of Yangzhou, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Enlight Media signed an agreement to jointly set up a film school in Yangzhou on Aug 26, local media reported.

Construction on the school, the first of its kind in the Yangtze River Delta region, will start in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by 2023. The first phase will enroll over 4,000 undergraduates in majors such as directing, acting, photography, fine arts, design, music, dance, animation, and management, while the student enrollment will be increased to 10,000 in the second phase.

Students will spend their first year taking general education classes at the Suzhou Campus of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and sharpen their professional skills at the Yangzhou Campus starting sophomore year.

Students can take high-quality courses at the school and receive practical instruction at the local film and television industrial park, where China's largest photo studios and most advanced post production centers are located.

The school is expected to infuse new momentum into local development and become a milestone in the integration of China's higher education and film and television industry.
