Business Data Analysis
About the course
Business Data Analysis is a required course in the International Economics and Trade International Student Program at Southeast University. The core contents of this course are to teach statistics and data processing methods based on various major software in conjunction with data from Chinese companies’ business performance. The course aims to explain to students the main stylized facts of the world economy, and in particular of contemporary Chinese economic and business activities.
The objectives for the students for this class are:
l Earn the ability for critical thinking
l Analysis and evaluate claims, evidence and arguments
l To reason and deploy evidence clearly and logically
l Earn the ability to deploy critically evaluated information to practical ends
After class study, students are expected to have mastered:
l Data analysis and its use as a managerial tool
l Statistical methods with material related to subjects taught in the school of business.
Students for this class will also develop their quantitative and ICT skills and learn how to apply statistical techniques to solve problems in the real world of business.
About the teacher
Dr. Pu Zhengning received his Ph.D. from Tohoku University. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and the Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Southeast University. He has been teaching basic courses in economics and management for a long time, and he teaches business data analysis to international students at Southeastern University. Dr. Pu is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Society of World Economics, and has been providing management consulting services to all levels of government in Jiangsu Province and key energy enterprises in China.
