About the course

Management involves coordinating and overseeing the work activities of others so their activities are completed efficiently and effectively. Management is universal and needed in all types and sizes of organizations, at all organizational levels and in all organizational work areas, and in all organizations, no matter where they’re located.

This course serves as an introduction to the discipline of management. It is about management and managers and it is designed to integrate the accepted theories in the area with real world applications to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills needed for managing others. This course begins with a discussion of the current issues in management and then proceeds to cover the traditional functions of management: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.

The course are intended to help students understand the needs of modern public and private organizations, including emerging national and international trends.

The course to provide students with the best possible understanding of what it means to be a manager confronting change and to best prepare you for that reality.

The primary objective of the course is to prompt students to identify the principals of managing formal organizations, recognize the various challenges faced by today’s managers, and give examples of organizations engaging in the management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, start developing necessary skills of a manager and knowing how to apply them in the real world.

About the teacher

Song Huaming is a professor and doctoral supervisor at School of economics and management, Nanjing University of Science and Technology. He is the winner of the quality award of Nanjing Mayor in 2018, and was selected as the young academic leader in Jiangsu Province. He is a famous teacher in the school of economics and management of Nanjing University of technology, and a national famous quality management expert.

He presided over more than 20 scientific research project, published more than 30 papers in SSCI\SCI\EI-indexed journals and 6 books in the fields of Management. The course he lectured was won the Brand courses for international students by the National Department of Education and Excellent courses for international students by Department of education of Jiangsu Province.
