Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, held an online conference on Sept 25 to strengthen its partnership with the University of Cambridge, local media reported.
This day also marked the one-year anniversary of the establishment of the Cambridge University-Nanjing Center of Technology and Innovation. Thus far, all research projects at the center have been carried out smoothly. The main building of the center is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
During the conference, the center reached cooperation agreements with the Cambridge Enterprise, the commercialization arm of the university, and the Cambridge University Press. They plan to make concerted efforts to strengthen the intellectual property training system, hold roadshows on the three sides' research and technology, and open more high-end international forums.
Stephen Toope, vice-chancellor of Cambridge, said that the university is planning to expand the scope of its research, increase its research staff, and encourage researchers to work with overseas partners. He expressed hope that the Cambridge Enterprise would help accelerate the industrial development of Nanjing, and that the Cambridge University Press would strengthen Nanjing's higher education and academic performance. He also encouraged teachers and alumni of Cambridge to hold lectures at the center and work to make Cambridge Online resources accessible to more people.
