A total of 700 people from Yunnan province's Dali Bai autonomous prefecture have lifted their family out of poverty by the end of 2020 due to their studying experience in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, local media outlets reported on Jan 6.

In 2017, Wuxi and Dali signed an agreement to help impoverished students from Dali receive secondary vocational education in Wuxi's five vocational schools. During their study period, students are exempted from tuition fees, as well as enjoy national scholarships and the relevant policies of Wuxi.

From November 2017 to 2020, 1,600 students from Dali had vocational education in Wuxi, where the five appointed schools developed personalized talent training programs for them.

Li Hongbin and Pu Xiaojun, which started learning at the Wuxi Vocational and Technical Higher School of Automobiles and Engineering in 2017, have won golden and silver medals respectively in the Jiangsu provincial vocational competition and changed their lives through their hard work.

Officials from the local education department said that they are working to explore more ways to provide high quality education resources to students in West China.
