Intl students try their hands at dough modeling
Shen Jianguo (center), an inheritor of dough modeling, guides international students at Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang to make dough figurines. The unique and popular folk art has its roots from about 2,000 years ago when people in ancient China used dough made from wheat and glutinous rice flour to beautify their dough-based foods. Apart from the traditional themes likes flowers, as well as domestic and mythical animals, dough figurines also focus on characters appearing in folk stories, dramas, and classic Chinese novels.
