Intl students celebrate Laba Festival
International students from Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang cook Laba congee with local residents on Jan 18 to celebrate the Laba Festival, which falls two days later. The congee is a traditional food usually eaten by Chinese people during family gatherings and has become a symbol of unity and peace. It is made from 20 kinds of nuts, cereals, and dried fruits. People usually cook the congee a day beforehand, as after one night of slow simmering, all the ingredients will melt into the congee and result in a warm delicacy that is suitable for cold days.
