Jiangsu universities show educational strength

The 2021 China University Rankings that were recently released by the China Academy of Management Science show that East China's Jiangsu province has 17 universities, the most among all municipalities and provinces, ranked among the top 100 in terms of comprehensive educational strength.

The 17 universities have an average ranking of 52.00. Nanjing University, one of the most prestigious higher learning institutions in Jiangsu, remained at the top at sixth place. Southeast University followed at 17, Soochow University at 22, and Jiangsu University at 38, the highest ranking for a school that was not included in China's "double first-class" plan. The plan was initiated in 2017 and is aimed at nurturing an elite group of world-leading Chinese higher education institutions.

Nanjing Medical University (61), Yangzhou University (65), and Nanjing Tech University (67), which are also non-double-first-class schools, were also among the top 100.

The other 10 schools included are Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (42), Nanjing University of Science and Technology (43), Jiangnan University (45), Nanjing Agricultural University (47), Hohai University (53), Nanjing Normal University (55), China University of Mining and Technology (64), Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (77), Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (89), and Nanjing Forestry University (93).

Nanjing University ranked third in terms of teachers' average academic level and efficiency of teaching and doing research. It is also the third most popular school for students and has the sixth highest overall quality of new students.

Nanjing University of the Arts ranked first in the development of art-related disciplines.
