A launch ceremony for a new college jointly built by Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute was held at XJTLU's campus in Suzhou, Jiangsu province on April 9.

The new XJTLU-JITRI Academy of Industrial Technology is being established to cultivate talents with compound and practical abilities, as well as the competence to lead modern industrial development for innovative industries.

It will adopt XJLTU's current postgraduate training system to cultivate elite talents and industrial leaders, said Xi Youmin, the executive president of XJTLU.

The new school plans to enroll master's students and doctoral students this year. It will gradually increase its enrollment to meet industry needs. It will also offer non-degree specialty trainings to cultivate industry-oriented practical talents, added Xi.

"All the Master's and doctoral degree programs are demand-oriented," said Ma Fei, executive director of XJTLU-JITRI Academy of Industrial Technology.

"The process will be talent training demands proposed by JITRI and related enterprises, then we follow up to decide whether to set up an enrollment plan."

XJTLU adopts the globally accepted application system for both master's and doctoral degree majors, with graduates obtaining a master's or doctoral degree from the University of Liverpool.
