Nanjing in East China's Jiangsu province launched a 10-day demonstration class on April 12 to show its achievements in smart education over the past five years, local media outlets reported.
By using smart devices such as touch screens and tablet computers, teachers and students were able to make their classes more lively. Knowledge was better delivered to students through the integration of blackboards and coaching from teachers of other subjects.
Though students and teachers are already quite accustomed to smart education and have benefited a lot from it, this new system didn't go smoothly at first.
"We have to change the minds of teachers, students, and parents, and show them the benefits of smart education," said Hu Song, principal of the Nanjing No 29 Junior Middle School.
Hu said that smart technology has helped teachers better understand the strengths and weaknesses of students and make education more targeted.
"It actually helps relieve the burden on both students and teachers," Hu said.
Statistics show that from 2016 to 2020, Nanjing has invested around 5.5 billion yuan ($855.25 million) on educational informationization. A total of 650 schools have finished smart reforms, among which 10 were designated model smart campuses in Jiangsu province.
